Students from Alva, Burlington and Cherokee Public Schools represented Alfalfa Electric, competing in Co-opreneur Day at the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives in Oklahoma City on Oct. 26, 2022.
Co-opreneur Day 2022 was hosted by Oklahoma Council on Economic Education and Oklahoma’s Electric Cooperatives. This seventh and eighth grade student competition was designed to develop and explore business development, economic, leadership and entrepreneurship skills. They creatively designed a cooperative business to solve a community need, developed a business plan, and then presented their ideas to a panel of judges.

Over 100 students competed in this brand-new cooperative youth event. Two of AEC’s teams walked away victorious. The Alva Ambassadors were represented by Issac Anton, Kase Martin, Taytum Schlarb and Merritt Mantz. They won first place in the seventh and eighth grade mixed division. 4 Aces, representing Cherokee Public Schools, won third place in the eighth grade division. 4 Aces team members were Talyn Allison, Wyatt Parker, Tyson Ream and Lindzee Wessels.
