Who is ready to see and be seen? I think we are all eager to get out and about among our neighbors and fellow Kansans. And this issue provides the perfect opportunity to do so. We are excited to be able to publish in-person events in this Discover Kansas issue for our readers to experience. A few events still offer virtual participation, but the majority are outside, open-air happenings for all ages. Discover Kansas activities begin on Page 6. Send us a photo of your family’s first post-pandemic outing and we may publish it in future issues of Kansas County Living. Send photos to photos@kclonline.com, include your name and the name of others in the photo, the name of your electric co-op, and the name of the event/place. Before venturing out, be sure to contact the organizer to make sure the event is still scheduled as planned.
In our continued celebration of Kansas Electric Cooperatives, Inc.’s 80th anniversary this year, we share another photo from our archives of KEC’s earlier days. The photo below was taken during our building’s open house in 1990. Willie Wiredhand greeted guests and mingled with the crowd during the building tour. Willie is still going strong in 2021, but LED Lucy now leads the way in energy savings.
Enjoy your May activities!
