Safety is part of our culture at Pioneer Electric. We strive every day to work in a manner that gets our employees safely home to their families. Sharing our message of safety is also near and dear to our hearts.

Pioneer Electric is often called upon to host safety demonstrations in a variety of settings; on any given day we could be relaying our message of safety to a group of farmers or an elementary classroom.

“As part of our co-op month celebration in October, we implemented an electrical safety poster contest geared at helping us teach our message of safety to elementary-aged students,” said Alyssa Hammond, communications specialist for Pioneer Electric. “We work with the third and fourth grade classes throughout our entire service territory and encourage them to design posters with the theme ‘Electrical Safety at Home or School.’”

Once posters have been submitted, one winner from each grade is selected through a process of community voting. In addition to winning great prizes from the cooperative, the student’s teacher is also awarded $250 to be used toward classroom supplies. Winners of the 2021 contest received a brand new Amazon Fire Tablet™.

“It’s never too early to start talking about electrical safety but this is the age that students often hear the message of electrical safety for the first time,” said Hammond. “They’re able to take the message of electrical safety and then design some really great posters with the information we teach them.”

Pioneer Electric offers community safety demonstrations at no cost. Members interested in arranging a safety demonstration for their classroom, business, safety meeting or event may call 620-356-1211 or 800-749-9302.
