Lane-Scott Electric Accepting Sharing Success Grant Applications

Lane-Scott Electric began participating in the Sharing Success Grant Program in 2020 with CoBank, one of our partner banks. The purpose of the program is to provide grants to local charitable organizations and causes who make a difference in our local community.

“One of our most valued principles is Concern for Community. The Sharing Success program gives Lane-Scott the opportunity to double what funds we have available for charitable contributions,” said Ann Marie Jennings, Lane-Scott Electric Member Services.

Last year both CoBank and Lane-Scott each donated $2000 toward the program. Recipients of the $1,000 grants were the Frank Stull American Legion Auxiliary in Ness City who is helping build a handicap ramp in the American Legion; The Ness County Fire District #1 to purchase fire-fighting equipment; the Lane County Lions Club for contribution towards their signature program of providing meals to the youth and homebound adults of Lane County; and the Western Kansas Child Advocacy Group to help purchase education and prevention resources to assist the children and families heal from the trauma of abuse.

Applications for $1,000 grants are now being accepted through April 4, 2022. Those we can apply are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations and other non-501(c)(3)’s such as schools and government organizations such as counties, municipalities, and their agencies or departments. Grants must benefit a community or communities who receive electric service from Lane-Scott, or who’s purpose benefits members of Lane-Scott. The project must serve a public purpose. The application requires a description of the organization, the purpose in which the grant will be used, and who will benefit from the grant.

Organizations are allowed only one application per year. Online applications can be submitted at www.lanescott.coop/grant, or picked-up at the Lane-Scott office at 410 S. High St. in Dighton. Please call with any questions!

Lane-Scott Electric Offers Continuing Education Scholarships

Our youth are the leaders and work force of tomorrow. Lane-Scott has always believed in the education of our local youth through scholarships, sponsorship of the Washington DC Youth Tour, Cooperative Leadership Camp, Electrathon, Kid Wind program, and much more! This year Lane-Scott Electric is once again offering additional Continuing Education Scholarships.

The last two years, the Washington DC Youth and Cooperative Leadership Camp were cancelled due to Coronavirus concerns. The funds we typically allocate for these opportunities have been used to boost our scholarship program. This year, the Cooperative Leadership Camp in Steamboat Springs is being offered, but due to continued concerns for restrictions in Washington, DC, Lane-Scott is not participating in the Youth Tour. Those funds will once again be used to offer six $1,500 Continuing Education Scholarships!

    Scholarship Eligibility Requirements

    • Current seniors, high school graduates, or college students
    • You must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited university or college, including junior, community, vocational or technical colleges
