The Kansas ElectroRally Program is a statewide program that introduces kids to electric and solar powered vehicles and engineering. Kansas teams are responsible for designing, building, and racing. They compete against other teams across the state at meets. Most teams build their cars from the ground up with only a few rules and guidelines. Competition is based on time and distance with the race being won by the team that completes the most laps in one hour. Strategy is just as important as speed!

The 2020-2021 Dighton High School Electrathon team competed last October in Hoisington for their first race of
the school year where they took first place in the experimental class. Team members this year are Bodie Landgraf (driver), Trevon Beesley, Ethan Shapland, Cody Pierce, and Gabe Castillo. Liberty Nichols, the DHS team sponsor said, “The team has been busy building, fixing, and fabricating. I just drive them to the competitions; they’ve been doing it all!” The students are rebuilding foot controls, body, and possibly a new paint coat.

As of now, the spring race schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, April 14th in Hoisington
Thursday, April 22nd in Scott City
Monday, May 3rd in Kansas City
Lane-Scott Electric is a proud sponsor of the DHS Electrathon team. If you would like to be a future sponsor financially or by donated items, contact Mr. Nichols at the Dighton High School, 620-397-5333. Good luck Bodie, Trevon, Ethan, Cody & Gabe!
