Lane-Scott challenged several local area elementary schools to participate in a food drive to help stock local area food banks before summer! Two years ago, we had a similar challenge but were unfortunately unable to have one last year due to schools being closed due to COVID-19. This year, everyone was extra excited for the challenge and it showed in the enormous number of items collected! The kids had a good time with some friendly competition, and we were able to collect a lot of food for a great cause.
This year Lane-Scott donated $100 to the winning classroom of each participating school to help with next year’s school supplies, held a pizza party for the winning classes in each school, and threw in a little treat for everyone for their fantastic participation!
Western Plains South Elementary School K-5th grade students collected 251 items and Western Plains North K-5th grades collected 509 items that were donated to the Ness County Food Bank in Ransom. The Dighton Elementary School PreK – 6th grade students collected an amazing 3,465 items that were donated to the Lane County Food Bank in Dighton.
We really appreciate the participation from students, parents, teachers, and community members who helped donate towards a good cause!
