Those who call Kansas home, know the beauty of our state. From the rolling terrain of Doniphan County to Morton County’s Cimarron National Grassland — and the forests, pastures and prairies in between — Kansas’ natural landforms provide stunning subjects for photos. As do the abundant wildlife and critters.
The often-undiscovered splendor of the Sunflower State creates a challenge when recruiting or even retaining the workforce. A yearly photography contest that Kansas Country Living is honored to be a part of, endeavors to promote Kansas as a great place for healthcare providers to live, work and play. The Rural Kansas Photography Contest, coordinated by the University of Kansas Medical Center’s Rural Health Education and Services, enters its 17th year and Kansas Country Living is honored to sponsor the grand-prize winning photograph for the fifth consecutive year.
As much fun as our editorial team has in determining the grand-prize winning photo, which will grace the cover of our January 2023 issue, the skills and creativity of the photographers create a challenge for us to choose just one! The collection of photographs amassed through the years can be viewed at https://bit.ly/RKPCwinners.
The 2022 contest kicks off Sept. 1 and deadline for submitting your photo entries is 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 17. For complete rules, categories, voting information and terms, visit https://bit.ly/rural-kansas-photo. (Please note, Kansas Country Living is a sponsor of the contest and does not accept entries for the contest.)
