Four new exhibitions feature paintings by Charles Baughman of Wichita and David Friday of Russell; prints and paintings by former Bethany College art instructor Annie Lee Ross (1909-1978); and the annual Holiday Gift Show.
Charles Baughman‘s exhibition, Kansas Splatterscapes, showcase his easily recognizable drip-style oils.
Likewise, Dreamworld of the Prairie, features landscapes with a twist by David Friday. On canvases large and small, the vibrancy, vitality and diversity of the natural world influence his work.
Annie Lee Ross was an assistant professor of art at Bethany College, remaining until 1949, whereon she resumed further studies at New York University as well as at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The Gallery’s popular Holiday Gift Show completes the selection of new exhibitions. The work of nearly 50 invited artists is represented in the show and includes paintings, prints, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, Swedish-inspired folk art, woodcarvings, mixed media pieces, and more.
The Sandzén Gallery hours are 10:00am-5:00pm Tuesday through Saturday, and 1:00-5:00pm on Sunday. Docent tours for groups are available by two-week advance appointment. For more information about Birger Sandzén, the Gallery, and these exhibitions visit www.sandzen.org or phone 785-227-2220.
