Rendezvous 2022 is a collaboration of the Santa Fe Trail Association, Fort Larned National Historic Site, and the Santa Fe Trail Center. The seminar is funded through the generous support of Humanities Kansas. This year’s theme is “Youth on the Santa Fe Trail.”  Children of three cultures were involved with the Trail — Indigenous Americans, Hispano Americans and Anglo-Americans. Rendezvous explores the different aspects of these cultures as they sent or brought their young people along the Santa Fe Trail.

The symposium will begin with dinner at the Larned Community Center on Thursday, Sept. 22 and conclude with dinner at Fort Larned National Historic Site on Saturday, Sept. 24. Speakers include Dr. Michael Olsen, Ron Parks, Joy Poole, and Dr. Leo Oliva. A highlight of the event will be a showing of the movie “The Contested Plains” at the historic State Theater; director Ken Spurgeon will be present for a discussion of the film.  An evening performance by “Poet Lariat” Ron Wilson and entertainer Jeff Davidson will be held at Fort Larned on Saturday evening.

For more information call or email the Santa Fe Trail Center, or to register online at https://www.lastchancestore.org
